The call to member XmlMaps failed. Microsoft Office Excel returned the following message: This method or property is available only in Microsoft Office 2003 Professional. Is it the case that one must be using Office Professional in order to use the data migration feature, and if so, why? |
Solution |
It was confirmed by Microsoft's development team that Office Professional Edition is at this time required. The response was. "Regrettably it is not specifically stated that RIM requires the Professional Edition, but we will do it in an update to the next version, unless the Small Business Edition in a later version contains the functionality." So you will need the additional functionality that is available in the Professional edition of Office in order to use the RIM tool. According to one of their Escalation Engineers, you can download the following add-in rather than purchasing the Professional Edition. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=72852247-6AFD-425C-83B1-1F94E4AC2775&displaylang=en They had not tested his since they have the Profession version already installed in their environment, so as always, please try it in a test environment if you decide to go this route. ALSO, you may want to download a 60-day trial version of Office 2007 Professional to complete what you are working on and to also test the new Office 2007. That's another option. Below is the site for downloading a trial version of Office 2007. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/default.aspx Below is some additional information about XML (Extensible Markup Language) that might come in useful. These came from pages on this site: http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/default.mspx Note Office Professional Edition 2003 includes additional support for Extensible Markup Language (XML) and information rights management (IRM) and allows you to use Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System. Microsoft Office Extensible Markup Language (XML) enables developers to create solutions that incorporate information from a variety of sources into Word 2003, Excel 2003, and Access 2003 files. Programs in Office 2003 Editions can automate virtually any task involved with creating files such as reports, spreadsheets, or forms. Use Office Professional Edition 2003 to customize schemas and task panes to integrate with other programs or XML data sources. |
