After Jet Reports has been installed it may be necessary to enable the Excel Add In.  The instructions below describe the required steps.

Excel needs to be configured to recognize the Jet add-in. Since Excel stores add-in configuration by user, if multiple users use the same workstation or server, this step must be done for each user.

If you launch Excel with Jet Professional by double-clicking the "Jet Reports" icon on your desktop, this automatically ensures that the Jet add-in is enabled before Excel is started.

Otherwise, there are a two ways to enable the Jet add-in. If you are a user with administrative privileges, you can use the Jet Activation Wizard. This wizard runs automatically after you install Jet or it can be run from the start menu. You can also use Excel to enable the Jet add-in manually (especially in Excel 2000 where the automatic activation may not work or if you are a limited user).

To Enable the Jet add-in manually do the following:

  • Open Excel and go to the Excel Add-Ins
    Excel 2010 and higher - File/Options/Add-Ins/Go
    Excel 2007 - Office Button/Excel Options/Add-Ins/Go
    Excel 2000/XP/2003* - Tools/Add-Ins

  • Click the Browse button and browse to the Jet Reports folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\JetReports).

  • If you are using Excel 2007 or higher, double-click the JetReports.xlam file. In earlier Excel versions, double-click the JetReports.xla file*.

  • If prompted, click Yes to overwrite the file.

  • Click OK. You should now see a Jet menu or ribbon.

    {note: if you have other add-ins enabled in Excel, it may be necessary to temporarily disable those prior to enabling the Jet add-in}
