In order for your Jet reports, Jet budgets, and/or Jet Analytics dashboards to be available over the Internet and accessible on mobile devices such as tablets and phones, an SSL Certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority is required. Once you have acquired the SSL Certificate, the following article describes how to import it into Microsoft Management Console (MMC) and how to correctly bind it in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. For this process, you will need to have both an Intermediary CA and an SSL Certificate. You should receive the CA from the Certificate Authority when you receive your SSL Certificate.
Setting up Microsoft Management Console (MMC)
To open Microsoft Management Console, click on the 'Start' button of your Windows desktop and type in MMC or MMC.exe
You will need to run MMC as an Administrator account (local Administrator is Ok). If you don't, you will only be able to manage the current user's certificates.
Once that has opened, click on File and then select Add/Remove Snap-in...
The 'Add or Remove Snap-ins' window will now open. Navigate to the Certificates entry within the list on the left-hand side and click on it. Once that is highlighted, click on Add> in the center. This will open an additional window. Select Computer account from the options and then click Next. If the option to choose what type of accounts does not appear for you, exit MMC and re-open it using an Administrator account.
Lastly, ensure that the Local computer radio button is selected and then click Finish.
Importing the Certificate Authority
When you acquire your SSL Certificate (.CERT) from a trusted authority, you will also receive a Certificate Authority (.CA) file. In some cases, this will come in a combination file such as a .PFX and contain all necessary pieces.
Once you've setup the MMC as described above , the next step is to import the Certifcate Authority into both the 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities' and 'Intermediate Certification Authorities' sections.
To do so, first expand the Certificates drop-down list within MMC by clicking on the small arrow to the left of Certificates. Then right-click on Trusted Root Certification Authorities and select All Tasks and then Import...
In the ensuing window, click Browse and navigate to where you have your Certificate stored, select it, and then click Open.
In the next window, ensure that the radio button is set to Place all certificates in the following store is selected, and that the Certificate Store is set to Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
Simply click Finish on the last screen of the import wizard, and you've successfully imported your Certificate Authority into the 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities' section.
Once you've completed this step for the 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities' section, you need to repeat the process identically for the 'Intermediate Certificate Authorities' section.
Importing the SSL Certificate
The next step is to import the SSL Certificate. This process is much the same as importing the Certificate Authority, but with only some slight differences.
To begin, right-click on the Personal section and select All Tasks and then Import...
Just as before, click Browse to open your computer's file directory and then navigate to where you have the SSL certificate stored.
Once you've selected the file, click Open to move to the next window. Again, simply ensure that the Place all certificates in the following store radio button is selected and that the store is listed as Personal. Click Next to proceed, and then Finish to finalize the import.
Binding Jet Hub to the SSL Certificate in IIS Manager
The last step to complete the SSL Certificate process is to bind the certification to your Jet Hub web site. To do this, open IIS Manager, expand Sites and select Jet Hub. Once there, click on Bindings on the right-hand pane. Select Edit in the window that pops up, and then select the correct certificate from the drop-down of the ensuing window, as demonstrated below.
